 Twitter/Instagram - Personal Learning Network

I've used instagram in my personal life and it has become a part of my personal learning network over the years as a resource for researching information and also to inspire me  with new ideas in my personal life. I've been interacting with a few teachers that are also "influencers" plus a few suggested by the professor of EME 2040. My cousin is also a teacher and has made a few recommendations as well of people to follow and use as resources and inspiration. I've found twitter beneficial as well, deciding to use twitter rather than instagram for the assignment in order to expand my horizons. I'm not entirely sure how this will aid me in the future more than it already has thus far but it could be more helpful as the social media platforms evolve.

Digital Divide

The Digital Divide affects student success in that it creates so many obstacles in their ability to learn and actively participate in learning and social activities due to an assumption of the average standard of living. The Digital Divide can be caused by a lack of digital literacy, barriers in education like virtual learning, differences in income and economic stability, and things like gender and geography being discriminated against. Teachers may experience all of the conditions listed above and are forced to adapt and assist the students by leveling the playing field and making each child receive the same opportunities as their peers. this may affect teaching strategies and make things more difficult by providing additional materials on your own dime, teaching beyond your job description to ensure a level playing field for everyone, or even going back to basics to reteach those who have an incorrect understanding of material or technology the students are using.

Academic Software

Amplify and teacherspayteachers.com are both academic software for students, or to be used for students that I found very interesting and helpful to use. teacherspayteachers.com is something I've used in the past for powerpoint templates and other resources for non-profit and religious organizations, though I'm aware of certain school districts that prohibit use of this software for teacher's use in the classroom. I'll probably use these in the future, though I may also use the software capterra as well since I looked into it after a classmate posted about it on Diigo. I would like to use these in the future, mainly teacherspayteachers.com, as something for resources and inspiration for curriculum and interactive activities - or using amplify as it looks incredibly easy to use and for all ages (capterra being a resource only to find other resources for the most part).

First let's talk about me. I was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida in a family where education is held in high regard. My Cousin also attended Florida State University, though I'm the first in the family to pursue a degree in either History or Religion. I used to live with my mom, dad, and younger sister. our family as a whole has 6 cats and 5 dogs. I'm personally involved in multiple non-profit charity organizations like Daughters of the Nile, The International Order of Rainbow for Girls, The Order of the Eastern Star, and affiliated with the Freemasons, Demolay, The York Rite, The Shriners, The Scottish Rite, and Amaranth organizations. I also volunteer with my church in the children department (teaching), the worship/music team (online presence), and in bible study. I enjoy helping people and learning new things, always one to delve into a new topic on a whim - history being my favorite subject. I want to go on to help people learn about history, various religions,...

My Experience with Microsoft Word:      I've used Microsoft Word since I can remember, always being the go-to for any note taking or projects I've had to complete. My Mom is very into the latest and greatest Technology innovations and when Microsoft Word came out, she utilized it for her keeping of family records, and made sure that me and my sister were capable of using it for schoolwork and other documentation purposes. We later came to use it for the creation of calendars, flyers, invitations, lists, and graphs - before we were taught the basics of Microsoft Excel. Personally, I prefer to use Google Docs as it is much more searchable and can be stored online rather than taking up space on my computer memory, and it works seamlessly with other Google Programs. I've used Word quite a bit in my life and am proficient in the software, though it's not my personal preference.
